The AES Foundation added a disaster relief team for the first time. Hearing about the devastating tornado damage to towns in Kentucky, our owner John Wade immediately volunteered the Foundation’s services to assist. We deployed our mobile Arby’s unit to Mayfield, KY- one of the hardest hit communities.
Our amazing team of volunteers teamed up with local KY National Guard , community organizers, local ARG restaurants and ARCOP. This teamwork allowed us to serve over 6,600 meals in 3 days. Special Thanks to our team of Area Supervisors and General Managers who left their families the week before Christmas to serve another community. AES VP Curt Oxyer organized the endeavor, VP Dave Early used his contacts to get us into restricted space and VP Michelle Carter sent strong leaders to help. Arby's Corporate helped AES with supplies, including 6,600 buns needed. We extend a warm thank you to Father Eric Riley pastor of St, Joseph’s Parish whose flock was so badly hit. It is so amazing what a warm heart and a hot roast beef sandwich can do to bring smiles and tears of relief to those in need.
